Testimonials The customer below experienced a catastrophic failure of his 996 engine. He decided to "Go all the way" and purchase a completely updated Flat Six Innovations engine for his 996. His old engine was a stock 3.4, it was utilized to build a better, stronger, more reliable and high performance 3.6 liter engine. The engine now produces 40HP more than stock, still attains excellent fuel economy, exceptional reliability and the longevity that has made the Flat 6 Innovations Engine Program the respected in the World. I have a Porsche 911 Cabriolet that I have owned for 11years. Last spring I had my first significant problem with the car.......theengine coolant was mixing with the oil, which indicated a cracked block orhead. After doing LOTS of research I found that this is a"known" problem with the 911's after Porsche switched to watercooling instead of air cooling. It happened with about 10-15% ofthe cars. Porsche knows about it, but due to the age does notconsider it their problem any more. I explored many options (all very expensive) from used engines to new enginesto rebuilds. To make a very long story short, I found Jake Rabythrough many online forums and decided to take a big risk and send my car tohim without even meeting him (I live in Ocala, Florida and as you know he is inGeorgia). He was very clear with me that it would be a few months, but I was fine with that as I was away for the summer anyway. While the car was there I asked Jake and Dean if they knew anyone who mightpaint the car as well, since the paint job is 11 years old. They did -and I had that done as well. I could not be happier with the final product !! I nowhave a car with essentially a brand new engine and a brand new paintjob........all done for a fair price and with TOP quality. I was quite nervous about sending funds to someone I did not know, for a jobthat I might or might not be happy with. During the process my wifeasked several times if I knew what I was doing - sending money without seeingthe car, to someone I found on the internet - but I stayed the course. I am SO happy that I chose Flat 6. Their communication during theservice, and especially since I have had the car back is beyondbelief. They call on a regular basis to see how the car is doingand be sure that I am still happy. The car runs amazingly well. Jake even called to give me some tipson how I should be driving the car before I got it back. I served in the Marine Corps (many, many years ago) and so didJake. Part of my feeling of security was the feeling that I wouldnot be cheated by a fellow Marine. All in all I give them my extremely strong recommendation...........I could notbe happier with their service and with my "new" car....... I've attached a picture. I have always told my friendsthat I will have the car until the day I die - Jake/Dean and Flat 6 has nowmade that even more of a reality. You don't know me and might feel that I am somehow set up by their company, butI can assure you that I am one of the most honest people you would ever knowand in no way am set up by their company...........I am simply a veryhappy customer....... Ron Scott Flat 6 Innovations saves another M96 Engine from catastrophic failure with the IMS Bearing Retrofit kit!!!! My 2003 2.7 Boxster had covered 49,000 miles and was in at an official Porsche dealership for a routine service. During the service they noticed a small leak from the engine - the infamous rear main seal. I booked it in for repair and once the gearbox was off, it was also apparent that the intermediate shaft bearing retaining bolt had sheared off. ![]() The car was running absolutely fine when it went on the ramp but we didn't dare fire it up it again knowing this! To fix this I was told by my dealer the engine would have to be stripped down and a completely new intermediate shaft fitted (Porsche don't sell the bearing on it's own). COST for parts and labour - 6000GBP! Needless to say I was not impressed and after asking around on the internet I came across flat6innovations. Their IMS retrofit kit addressed this issue - not only do they have the kit and the know-how, but Jake identified the type of IMS bearing from pictures I sent him, advised exactly what tools were required, how to do it and shipped me the kit to the UK within days. GREAT customer service! Porsche fitted the new IMS for me (the techs were gathered round while it as being done!) and I have the car back. It runs as well as it always did, but with peace of mind that the IMS bearing is a quality item and the retaining bolt is at least twice as thick. It's as Porsche should have designed it! COST for this repair - 650GBP including parts, tools, labour, overseas shipping and taxes!!! I am a very happy customer! Rgds, Craig Smith. "When I noticed my Boxster was running rough, I took it to the dealership to have them take a look. They told the problem was a mystery, and that they tested the actuator, and it seemed fine. The dealership then told me that to diagnose, they would need to take off the cam cover, and just to remove the cover would be 1,300.00! I called Flat6, and something Jake said made me question if the dealership was the right place to do any kind of repair on my car. Jake told me that the only way to test the actuator was to remove it, and look at it - something an inexperienced dealership technician wouldn't know to do. Jake told me, from what I was describing, that he thought the variocam could be physically jammed by a piece of debris. Sure enough, when Flat 6 removed the actuator, they found a small piece of debris, cleaned everything up, put it back together, and save me HUNDREDS of dollars. And, of course, the car is running perfectly. Jake and his crew are true professionals - it's rare to find experienced technicians who have a deep knowledge, and passion for doing it right."Thanks again, Jake!Mark Crupi, Atlanta Georgia![]() We encourage those interested in what Flat 6 Innovations has to offer to visit our sister company, Aircooled Technology's website at http://www.aircooledtechnology.com to learn more about the pedigree that comes with parts and engines we offer as well as countless customer testimonials or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
