Tuning

 The tuning of an engine can be grouped into two major categories, hardware and software. Most "Tuning" enhancements are considered '"bolt ons" meaning that these can be accomplished without a tear down of the engine, or even engine removal. These types of engine tuning can create exceptional enhancements in performance including acceleration, top speed and throttle response as well as providing better fuel economy and a more performance oriented sound.

 ECU Tuning 

Our collaborative efforts with Evolution Motorsports has afforded us the ability to provide a customized fuel and ignition curve for your Porsche. This is a service that can be utilized to optimize other bolt on enhancements like exhaust systems and induction enhancements. If you'd like to explore the possibilities with ECU enhancement you can either deliver your Porsche to our facility for our specialized service, or you can send us the ECU by mail for our "Bench service".

The Owners of our Big Bore Performance engines can further benefit from ECU enhancements by applying one of our specifically prepared ECU "flashes" to their vehicle, maximizing it's performance.

 Applying ECU enhancements perfected with our in houseLand and Sea Engine Dyno Lab and  Dyno Jet chassis dynamometer have proven to offer significant performance additions to the Porsches we have tested, whether they are otherwise bone stock, have other bolt on enhancements or feature a full blown Flat 6 Innovations Big Bore engine.

 Bolt On Performance

 It is true that the majority of bolt on enhancements that are available for the M96 Porsche engine either produce no gain in performance, or result in a loss of performance. The reason for this is simple, most of these components were never optimized and were the result of someone wanting to make a quick buck by selling something that has a ton of bling or a cool sound. 

At Flat 6 Innovations we do our own product development and also critique the systems and components offered by others to see how well they work on our Client's vehicles that are either equipped with stock or our upgraded performance engines. Between our two engine dynamometers, chassis dynamometer and our data acquisition systems we gain crucial data about the effectiveness of bolt on components. Most importantly we can find the best combination of these components that can be applied together to make the vehicle perform as one "well oiled machine".
